David began his graduate studies in water resources and environmental engineering in 2004. This culminated in the award of a PhD in March 2011. His research has mainly been in the area of water quality, especially as it impacts human lives. This has led to further research in sustainable consumption, groundwater quality, environmental laws and regulations as well as water treatment plant technologies. During his PhD research, he won the prestigious IFS research grant from Sweden. He is an active participant in the African Round-table on sustainable consumption and production (ARSCP) which is a multinational and multidisciplinary body concerned with finding ways to achieve cleaner production and consumption in Africa. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Civil Engineering department of Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa. His research interests are in the area of:

* Water quality modeling and Assimilative Capacity Studies (ACS) of Surface water bodies
* Water Supply
* Water and wastewater treatment and technology
* Solid Waste Management
* Environmental Economics
